True Name is an action-adventure game revolving around the concept of possession. Indeed, the player embodies a demon able to possess any NPCs. The challenge consists in finding the best combinations between the passive traits of the demons, and the active ability of the NPCs. This prototype was also an opportunity to tackle two topics that I never faced before: real-time AI behaviors, and the pathfinding of NPCs in platformers. To achieve this, I respectively developed a simplified version of a Goal-Oriented Action Planner (GOAP), and an algorithm able to pre-compute a navmesh between nodes. |
